Riddick Bust - Pitch Black

This is a really nice 'garage kit' of Riddic with light rope from the movie Pitch Black. Below are pictures of the model from the kit form, in progress painting, and the final result. It was my first 'figure' model. I saw it at Wonderfest 2004, and figured it be fun to try an figure kit that had some really cool lighting. The light rope really makes the model. It looks much brighter in person. Please feel free to browse through the pics.

UPDATE: 9/08/2004 - I'll write up a summary of construction as soon as I can. In a nutshell, I tried to capture the development of the painting process for this model. I used enamels instead of acrylics, and built up the shadows and skin tones slowly. I used Future floor wax as my in between coats, and for the glossy look of his goggles. Then everything got subtled back down with a Floquil flat. The lighting is connected via a 12v transformer, connected to the base, and lights the 'rope'.

This is a great Kit. I'll post some info on the kit soon as well..
