UPDATE: 3/15/2002 - Added 2 links to the left. One is a .PDF file for use to print if you make your consoles similar to mine. The other is a Schematic of my wiring setup. Feel free to use.
UPDATE: 2/16/2002 - FINALLY, She's DONE!!! Several new Finished model pics on the left. My camera sucks, so I either over exposed them or underexposed them, but you'll get the idea. The model came our real nice. Added many decals from some 1/48 scale jets. I used the 'Wiggle Eyes', 18mm lenses for the headlights. They worked so good, I just sanded them down and snapped them in place, No gluing! I used decal film, thinly cut for the yellow and red stripes on the arms. This model took top honors at a recent Colorado Springs IPMS Con, taking 1st Place Sci Fi, Best Spaceship, Best Science Fiction, Peoples Choice and Judges choice against 284 other model entries! I was very honored, but a lot of credit goes to Scott for making such an awesome model kit!
UPDATE: 1/23/2002 - Added 3 new pics to the left. One unfortunate thing happened while putting it together. The front pod section was ground down a bit too much from Custom Replicas, and I didn't notice it until gluing the two halves together. This caused the door to get so tight, it can't move. So I decided to leave the door in a half open position, therefore you can still see in from the back, and see some of the door details. One Item to Note, the front 'Window' is made out of real glass. This makes for an exceptionally clear view into the cockpit, and easy to clean with no scratches.
UPDATE: 1/19/2002 - Most of the overall construction is now complete. To the left are several pictures of the construction. Starting with the
initial modifications to the basic kit. You'll see I added all new consoles, with rounded tops. I also created a front 'wall', with opening
for the front overhead lighting. I used sheet styrene to create the updated consoles. I apologize for the quality of pictures, my camera sucks.
UPDATE: Interior is complete. To the left are a couple pics of the consoles. Resolution is lower in these pics than actual. I created them in Adobe Illustrator, printed on the Epson Backlight film. They look terrific. I'll be posting pics of the interior soon. I reworked the entire cockpit, created the 'rounded' consoles, as well as angled ones. I have over 16 LEDs in this model, including one set of Fiber Optics.
UPDATE: CONSTRUCTION HAS BEGUN. I've started putting together the interior console. I'm working on creating a complete interior, as well as trying to get all the console panels in place. I'll be creating new console graphics with the same 'Backlight Film' Scott used to create his for the POD. Those should be posted shortly.
This is a really nice Kit. When they shipped it, it was very neatly packed, safely in lots of bubble wrap. First impression was, "wow, this thing is
big! It will be a big challenge getting the interior built up, but I think the end result will be worth it.
